The FOSTA e.V. (formerly Studiengesellschaft) was founded in 1968 as a registered association and is legally independent as well as non-profitable. The purpose of the association, in accordance with its statutes, is to "... promote the public interest in the field of research and development, in particular the application technology of iron and steel".
